About Ponte News

"Ponte" means bridge. Ponte News is a calm bridge between you and the news: what matters where you live, without the noise, the shouting headlines or the endless scroll.

Why it exists

Many people avoid the news because it leaves them anxious, and then miss things they need to know. Ponte News is for them: a short, finite page each day, written calmly, that never leaves out what you need to act on.

How it works

  • We read the headlines and short excerpts from many news outlets and official sources, so no single outlet sets the tone.
  • Each story is summarised in calm, plain words by an AI model (Claude, made by Anthropic). Facts, numbers, names and meaning stay exactly as the sources give them; only the tone changes. AI can make mistakes, so every story links to the original reporting for you to check.
  • Warnings and changes to daily life always show, written calmly with clear steps. In calm mode, very distressing stories are folded away until you choose to open them.
  • The page ends. When you reach "You're up to date", that's everything for today.

What we never do

  • Change facts, or dress bad news up as good.
  • Copy whole articles or their photos: we link to the outlets that did the reporting.
  • Show ads, pop-ups or autoplay videos, or follow you around with tracking.

Your settings

Where you live and your calm mode settings stay in your own browser. You don't need an account.
